“Returning sanity to US education ? “ Huh ? Conservatives like Alex Newman are always whining about the alleged “indoctrination “ of students in our public schools by” the government “ in > socialism,Marxism and communism , godlessness , hatred of America “ and all that nonsense , but they want our public schools to indoctrinate students who do not come from Christian homes in Christianity !

America is now the most religiously diverse nation in world history, with a rapidly shrinking Christian majority and followers of virtually every religion in existence and more atheists and agnostics than ever before . Naturally, this means that there are more students whose parents are not Christians than ever before . To subject these non-christian students to mandatory Christian prayers and Bible readings etc and to force all public schools to put up the 10 Commandments , is a blatant violation of the religious freedom of those students and their parents .

If our public schools are to put the 10 Commandments up , why don’t we also post quotes from the Koran , the ancient Hindu scriptures , the sayings of the Buddha as well as quotes from Darwin’s Origin of the Species to represent atheism ? And if students are to learn about the Bible, it should be in classes on comparative religion , in which they will learn about the various religions of the world taught in a totally impartial way , not favoring any one of these ?

In fact, it would be a good idea if more public schools had such classes .

Never mind the Bible, get rid of the outrageous pro-noun, self identification nonesense!! There are only 2 genders; your sexual preference has nothing to do with gender. It is NOT hate speech to speak the truth regardless of how snowflakes react. If anyone is offended by these words, they need help with reality.

The public education system should teach the historicity of Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity.

I recommend the books and lectures by Prof. Bart Ehrman:

If you ever bothered to study the roots of our constitution, in the fact that all signers of the constitution recognize that the moral law taught in the Bible applied to everybody – – – to protect everyone from the evil doors – – – you would understand why history is so important And why teaching children, moral values, which is what the 10 Commandments are – – – does not mean that they have to change their religion at all – – – what it means is they have to treat other people as they would like to be treated, and not lie, steal, or cheat or commit adultery with her neighbors, wife . Every single person I know, agrees with the 10 Commandments, and many of these people are not Christian – – so yes!!!. Every single person I know, agrees with the 10 Commandments, and many of these people are not Christian – – so yes teaching the 10 Commandments is a very good thing for children to learn----And learning the history of why the constitution was written to ensure religious freedom not to take it away would be a good thing for you to study.
